Intrusion detection systems designed for con- ventional computer systems and networks are not necessarily suitable for mobile cyber-physical systems, such as robots, drones and automobiles. They tend to be geared towards attacks of different nature and do not take into account mobility, energy consumption and other physical aspects that are vital to a mobile cyber-physical system. We have developed a decision tree-based method for detecting cyber attacks on a small-scale robotic vehicle using both cyber and physical features that can be measured by its on-board systems and processes. We evaluate it experimentally against a variety of scenarios involving denial of service, command injection and two types of malware attacks. We observe that the addition of physical features noticeably improves the detection accuracy for two of the four attack types and reduces the detection latency for all four

Sanitation Safety Plannings (SSPs) are currently under a piloting phase by World Health Organisation (WHO). SSPs supplement and act as practical application guidance the four volumes of the 2006 WHO Guidelines for the Safe Use of Wastewater, Excreta and Greywater. Two pilot sites were selected in Hanoi, Vietnam to test WHO’s upcoming Sanitation Safety Planning manual: (1) large scale agriculture on the outskirts of Hanoi which uses untreated sewage; and (2) an organic composting site which uses effluent from a purpose built on-site sewage treatment plant for moisture control of the compost. This paper presents a summary of how SSPs helped identify and manage health risks to workers, farmers and consumers of produce from reuse of wastewater. Simple risk-based prioritised low cost improvement plans are summarised

As Vietnam’s population continues to grow, there is a growing need for sustainable societal development. The energy-saving behaviour of every citizen plays a crucial role in achieving this sustainability. Therefore, it is necessary to raise awareness among young adults about energy conservation and environmental protection to promote sustainable social development in Vietnam. Hence, this study aims to examine the key factors influencing electricity-saving and habitual energy-saving behaviour. Data were collected from 431 young adults aged 18 to 30 years old in Ho Chi Minh City. The results indicate the significance of the model studied, with all hypotheses being accepted. The findings demonstrate that several factors, including subjective standards, perceived behavioural control, awareness of consequences, sense of responsibility, personal moral norms and cognition of electricity prices, influence electricity-saving behaviours and habitual energy-saving behaviour related to electricity usage. The findings suggest that young adults are increasingly recognising the importance of conserving electricity in modern life to protect the environment and promote sustainable social development in Vietnam. The management implication suggests that individuals in Ho Chi Minh City have demonstrated an awareness of energy conservation. However, responsible authorities should initiate programmes aimed at promoting electricity-saving practices. This includes the creation of media articles to raise awareness and enhance the understanding of electricity-saving measures, serving as reminders to increase awareness about conserving electricity among every individual. Furthermore, this study offers theoretical and practical implications for researchers and policymakers alike

Responding to an emergency situation is a challenging and time critical procedure. The primary goal is to save lives and this is directly related to the speed and efficiency at which help is provided to the victims. Rescue robots are able to benefit an emergency response procedure by searching for survivors, providing access to inaccessible areas and establishing an on-site communication network. This paper investigates how a cyber attack on a rescue robot can adversely affect its operation and impair an emergency response operation. The focus is on identifying physical indicators of an ongoing cyber attack, which can help to design more efficient detection and defense mechanisms. A number of experiments have been conducted on an Arduino based robot, under different cyber attack scenarios. The results show that the cyber attack’s effects have physical features that can be used in order to improve the robot’s robustness against this type of threat
